Black jumping flies, also known as dance flies, are a type of small, predatory fly that belong to the family Empididae. They are characterized by their black or dark-colored bodies and their ability to jump and perform aerial maneuvers. These flies are often found near water sources and are known for their agile hunting behavior, as they capture prey while in mid-air. Black jumping flies play an important role in controlling insect populations and are considered beneficial in many ecosystems. **

Thick black flies are a type of fly that are typically larger in size and have a dark black coloration. They are often found in areas with decaying organic matter, such as garbage bins or compost piles, where they feed on rotting material. These flies can be a nuisance to humans and animals, as they are known to carry diseases and can be persistent in their attempts to feed on blood or other sources of food. **

Small black flies are tiny insects that are usually black or dark brown in color. They are commonly found in and around homes, particularly in areas with decaying organic matter such as garbage cans, drains, or overripe fruits. These flies are often attracted to moisture and can be a nuisance when they infest indoor spaces. While they are not harmful to humans, they can be a sign of poor sanitation and hygiene. **

Small black mini-flies are likely referring to a type of insect known as fungus gnats. These tiny flies are often found around houseplants and are attracted to decaying organic matter in the soil. They are not harmful to humans, but can be a nuisance when they infest indoor plants. Fungus gnats can be controlled by allowing the soil to dry out between waterings and using sticky traps to catch the adult flies. **

The small black flies could potentially be a different type of fly altogether, such as drain flies or phorid flies. It's important to properly identify the flies in order to effectively address any infestation issues. Consulting with a pest control professional or using online resources for fly identification can help determine the specific type of fly and the best course of action for control. **

Black flies are attracted to the scent of ripe tomatoes, as they are drawn to the sugars and organic compounds produced by the fruit. Additionally, the dark color of tomatoes may also attract black flies, as they are naturally drawn to dark colors. Once they land on the tomatoes, they may feed on the juices or lay their eggs on the fruit, making them a common pest for tomato plants. **

Small black flies can be found in various places such as near decaying organic matter, in damp and dark areas like basements, and around overripe fruits and vegetables. They are also commonly found near standing water, such as in clogged drains or around leaky pipes. Additionally, small black flies can be found in outdoor areas with decaying vegetation or in areas with poor sanitation. **

These strange little black flies are likely fungus gnats. Fungus gnats are small, dark-colored flies that are commonly found in moist environments where there is decaying organic matter. They are attracted to overwatered houseplants and can be a nuisance indoors. Fungus gnats lay their eggs in the soil of potted plants, and the larvae feed on fungi and organic matter in the soil. To control fungus gnats, it is important to reduce the moisture in the soil and avoid overwatering plants. **
